The Truth About Instant Credit Repair

People who search for “instant credit repair” on any search engine will end up with hundreds upon hundreds of results. The fact is however, that none of those results will actually produce an instant fix for credit repair. If someone wishes to dispute their credit report or current rating, they are completely entitled to dispute it and possibly have it re-evaluated, but the process is time-consuming, and is by no means going to happen instantly.

There are credit repair companies on the internet that claim that they can instantly repair credit ratings with some form of magic disk. There are, in fact, multiple laws that prohibit this type of false advertising, which entices consumers to pay money in order to have a company effect an instant credit restoration. Although it is an attractive idea, it is impossible, and companies that claim to be able to do so are deceiving their clients.

Credit reports are compiled based on the information that is collected, on the way that individuals spend, borrow, and repay loans, by private consumer credit reporting agencies, or by credit bureaus. These agencies in turn sell the information that they collect to potential lenders, such as credit card companies and banks, so that that these lending institutions may make a fair evaluation of whether loaning to specific individuals will in fact be in their best interest. This process is entirely legal, but can be flawed. An individual that feels that they have an inaccurate credit report that is working against them can launch an investigation to have false claims or inaccurate information removed from their credit report.

Credit repair is not a procedure that can be done overnight. When done in a legal manner, the best credit repair can take time, but eventually result in lowered interest rates and, ultimately, save consumers money. Companies that claim to be able to effect a fast credit repair may be issuing fraudulent claims to their clients, or may be suggesting actions that are not entirely legal. These types of companies will only end up costing money to the individual, who is trying to save.

Legitimate credit repair companies simply offer strategies and suggestions to individuals, but they basically cannot perform any magic tricks, or take any actions that a well informed consumer would not be able to take on their own. Because the process may be confusing, time-consuming, or frustrating for individuals, credit repair companies and/or lawyers make their services available, for a fee, in order to do most of the work, in ways that are entirely above-board and legal.

A clear and current understanding of credit laws is absolutely essential when attempting to repair inaccurate credit scores. By consulting an individual or an organization that has experience in this field, as well as a good reputation among previous and existing clients, individuals may eventually be able re-establish good credit with lending agencies. By looking for an agency that claims to effect instant credit repair, you may be setting yourself up for further disappointment.
